Develop

Now is the time to develop all the materials for your CBL course. Use the steps below to find out what you need to do. The approach to this phase will vary depending on the impact of your ideas. Discuss this with your Teacher Support to determine which steps are essential and which can be excluded.

The development and implementation phases may influence each other. Sometimes you may even be working on both phases at the same time. So take a timely look at what you need to do during the implementation phase.

You may not have precisely formulated ILOs, as it wasn't necessary until now. However, in the development phase, you should define your ILOs as accurately as possible. Once established, these ILOs can guide the creation of the remaining materials.

TO DO

  1. If you need to formulate or reformulate your ILOs, the ILO Generator can be a useful tool.
  2. Use the ILO Checklist to assess and refine your ILOs.
  3. For the formulations of P&PD competencies, use the file P&PD Competencies for inspiration or check the definitions of your department.
  4. After finalizing the ILOs, save them for later use on Canvas, in the Assessment plan and in the course description for Osiris catalogue.

To determine how to measure student performance you create an (or adjust your) Assessment Plan, which needs to be validated by the Program Director. You can use the format of the document below or the format of your department. Your Teacher Support should be able to help you with finding the right format.

If you are developing a course for the bachelor 2.0 program, your course should contain at least two interim assessment (feedback and/or tests) moments including feedback and at least one final assessment.  For more information go to the directive for Bachelor 2.0
The new directive for the Master 2.0 is in the making and will be based on the Bachelor 2.0.

Go to the Assessment page for more information about assessment.

TO DO

  1. Take your learning journey and check if the constructive alignment of your course still is in place.
  2. Download the Asssessment Plan Format and read the instructions. Use the TUE Assessment Fan Deck (update coming soon) to help you create your Assessment Plan.
  3. Estimate how much effort it will take for your team to develop the materials for the assessments and to execute the assessments. Does it fit within the time available? Make changes if needed.
  4. Estimate how much effort it takes for students to complete these assessments. Is it feasible? Make changes if needed.
  5. Finalize your assessment by using the checklist at the end.

In this step, you will create an overview of the materials that need to be created.

TO DO

  1. Download the Development Checklist and the Development + Implementation Plan template.
  2. Follow the steps on the checklist and use the worksheets that are relevant for you. Feel free to use your own tools or templates.
