Summary of the Project

The project has been integrating the LabBuddy software into the course 'Project Tissue Engineering' (8P350) within the Bachelor curriculum of the Faculty of Biomedical Technology at TU/e. Recognizing the challenges posed by limited lab hours and the need for efficient assessment, this initiative aims to enhance students' learning experience and practical skills. LabBuddy is a digital platform that allows students to design detailed experimental research plans using a variety of experimental tools and techniques. This system enables students to answer critical questions about their experimental designs, providing teachers with insights into student performance and understanding.

Aim of the Project

The primary aim of this project has been to improve the educational outcomes of the 'Project Tissue Engineering' course by using LabBuddy to prepare students more effectively for lab work. By building detailed experimental plans in LabBuddy, students gain a thorough understanding of various experimental and analytical techniques before applying this knowledge in practical lab sessions. The expected outcomes include better-prepared students, reduced time spent on basic questions in the lab, and more time for higher-level learning and application of practical skills. This initiative aligns with the goal of enhancing practical-oriented education, ensuring students achieve a higher level of learning and material comprehension. The project's success will be measured by improved student preparedness, enhanced learning outcomes, and more efficient assessment processes.

Results and learnings

This project has received positive feedback from students that they feel more prepared for classes and enjoy the experience of using LabBuddy.
