Summary of the project

The project, coordinated by TU/e's ISBEP program and student initiatives at HAS Den Bosch, has developed revolutionary concepts in indoor horticulture through year-round research conducted alternately between the two educational institutes. It has encouraged feedback sessions, opportunities for inter-faculty and inter-educational exchange, student-led lectures, and garnered industrial participation in a societally relevant project. TU/e students from various disciplines have built a novel greenhouse in winter/spring based on growing concepts provided by HAS students, who then planted and monitored crop growth in fall/winter, providing feedback for the next year's TU/e students.

Aim of the project

The project's aim has been to address the minimal interaction between TU/e and Applied Science Universities in the region. Additionally, it has tackled previous challenges faced by CBL and the ISBEP, such as visibility, legitimacy, and too restricted or misunderstood challenges. The initiative has focused on fostering information, education, and cultural exchange among students from Technical University and University of Applied Science. It has facilitated meaningful research projects with a long-term vision, involving cyclical participation of different student generations. The project has aimed to develop a high-tech, self-contained, and self-powering horticultural greenhouse for local use, and to serve as a seed concept for future CBL work, laying the foundation for a blueprint in future CBL projects.
