Summary of the project
The project has been focused on developing an interactive and appealing learning environment to enhance challenge-based learning and modular on-demand education for the course 4DB00 Dynamics and Control of Mechanical Systems. This course, mandatory for Bachelor Mechanical Engineering students, had 360 participants in the 2019-2020 academic year. The project has been building on the success of previous educational innovation efforts, such as the eFABLES project and CMODE-UP, to address the limitations of the Canvas platform's student interface. By translating an infographic into an interactive menu and course map, the project has been aiming to make course content more navigable and student-centered. The proposed interactive design has been intended to guide students through various modules and challenges, facilitating self-directed learning and improving accessibility to course materials. The project has been incorporating feedback from previous cohorts and utilizing web design expertise to create a more effective learning tool. It has been planning to implement these new features in the 4DB00 course, with the results set to influence future courses within the department and potentially across other departments.
Aim of the Project
The primary aim of the project has been to develop an interactive and engaging learning environment within Canvas to support challenge-based and modular on-demand education for the 4DB00 course. By creating an interactive menu and course map, the project has been striving to enhance students' ability to navigate course content independently and efficiently. The goal has been to improve the user experience by enabling students to easily access learning materials, module information, and MATLAB challenges, thus supporting their self-directed learning. The project has also been aiming to establish a new Canvas template that could be applied to other courses, promoting a more student-centered approach to education. Additionally, the project has been focused on disseminating the results through departmental meetings and evaluating the impact to ensure sustainable integration of the new educational tools.
