Challenge-based learning in integration course 1ZV60

Summary of the project

The project has been developing a challenge-based learning 'integration course' (1ZV60) for the new Industrial Engineering bachelor curriculum. In this course, both domain-specific knowledge and professional skills have been integrated to enhance intellectual and professional development. Students have been working in teams to tackle various challenges, applying domain-specific knowledge and developing their professional skills based on challenge-based and blended learning principles. The course design includes ample room for project work and developing a coaching structure for teamwork and tutoring.

Aim of the project

The project aims to create a course design that facilitates the integration of domain-specific knowledge and professional skills, implementing challenge-based learning. The structure allows students to independently learn core concepts and apply them in group project work, supported by  tutor sessions. This approach aims to provide more active engagement in projects and develop best practices for integrating domain-specific knowledge and professional skills in a challenge-based setting.

Results and learnings

The efforts have resulted in a synergistic integration of domain-specific knowledge, research methods and professional skills.
